Today we had Maddie's 2 week check-up with the pediatrician and she got a perfect bill of health! She is now weighing 7lbs, 7oz so she's 3oz more than she was when she was born. We have a healthy eater on our hands! And with that, I will say, we also have a healthy pooper! Oh my goodness, can the girl go! On Wednesday I think it was, I had my first experience getting pooped on by her. It was a classic welcome into motherhood! I was changing her diaper and as I wiped her hiney, she shot out some more for me and just covered my hand! Thank goodness she is such a sweetie and David was there to grab some wipes for me! We were just cracking up!!
Maddie is a champ at breast feeding and things there are going really well. We did find out that today that she probably has acid reflux which is what's causing her fussy periods and why she sometimes has trouble falling asleep when we lay her down in the crib. The pediatrician gave us some ideas on how to help this (sit her up more when she's feeding, elevate one end of the mattress, etc.) so hopefully these will help her (and us!) feel better soon.
At the pediatrician appointment, they also did a heal prick to test for a metabolic disorder. For the first time, I thought I may harm someone! Maddie's foot didn't bleed enough to get a sample with the first prick, so the technician had to prick her foot again and then had to keep squeezing her foot for about 15 minutes to get the sample. All the while Maddie is screaming bloody murder and it was so hard to see her in such pain and not be able to make it go away! She has to get some vaccinations at her next check-up and I already know I'm going to be a mess when that's over!
Today Mama Teet and I took Maddie for a quick walk around the neighborhood (just about 3 houses down and back!). It was a beautiful afternoon and it felt great to get outside. Here are some new photos we took we've taken this week.
Maddie just looking sweet as pie earlier this week...
A shot from last night's sponge bath...this must've been her one calm moment before the storm because she does not like (aka absolutely hates!) sponge baths!
Maddie all bundled up for the walk we took today, with her signature furrowed brow...
Some snuggle time with Mama Teet...
Maddie's cute little feet...they actually aren't that little, but are narrow and long. There's no denying they are cute though!
The last few days Maddie has proven herself to be quite the lady, always crossing her legs when we're holding her just like this (by the way, aren't the mary jane socks cute?!)...
We love you all!

Maddie - You are so adorable! Torin and I are so excited to watch you grow up! I hope we all can meet up one day and watch our little ones play.
Thanks for keeping us all updated Ni! The pictures are fab - that Maddie is just too cute! So glad to hear you are enjoying every moment - even the explosive pooping and fussy times :)
She's adorable!!! I can't believe how much she's grown! Great news at the doc's. Way to go, Maddie! I love that she's into fashion at just 2 weeks. We'll be able to go shoe shopping for sure!
Be good to yourselves! Remember to sleep when the baby does. Take care!

Seriously... Im ridiculously in love with your child. Like, it's kind of out of control. She is so damn precious I just dont know what to do with myself. I said to mom the other day, "she's just such a cute little strawberry!" and mom said, "a little strawberry shortcake. Shortcake, we should call her that!" I love it!! What a fun nickname if it sticks... I'm sure we'll come up with a thousand more by next week. I love you all so much and I'm just so proud to show you family off to everyone I know, and even strangers at work! Ha.. I have her pictures with me in my server book so when people are annoying me I can just look at her precious face and nothing else really matters. I love you so much and I cant wait to come see you guys! Wish me safe and fun times in Costa Rica... I will talk to you when I get back!!
