No Mama, No!

Maddie is officially entering her toddler stage! Over the weekend, Maddie took her first step into toddlerism, by refusing to eat any of the pureed Gerber food we had in the house and only wanting big girl food. I have absolutely no problem with this, the only thing is that she eats so few things that it's impossible for her to have a well rounded diet! I thought, well, she eats things with Ms. K that she won't for me, so Ms. K will have better luck than I'm having. Come Monday, I found out that assumption was wrong! She was refusing all her "baby" food with Ms. K too! So I have been on the hunt, trying out as many new things as I can think of for her, but she is proving...at this point at least...to be one picky eater! So far I haven't found a single vegetable she'll eat, the only fruit that she'll touch are bananas and avocados and she will eat bread, cereal, graham crackers and anything dairy. That's her entire diet right now! Normally, I would say that she's a girl after my own heart - loving carbs and diary - but I really want her to be healthy and have some fruit and veggies in there! If anyone has suggestions on foods to try, please let me know!

Her second step into toddlerhood happened on Wednesday night. David and I were at the kitchen table feeding Maddie dinner (and trying to get her to eat, or at least try, some fruits and veggies!) and while we were doing that, she started shaking her head in the "no" motion. As in "No, Mama - I do not want to eat that piece of watermelon you just tried to give me!" It was the funniest thing! It was right on cue and just made us bust out laughing! She's done it a few times since then and she loves getting us to laugh from it! I think she has fun doing it and sort of making herself dizzy too by moving her head back and forth quickly! Then she charms you with this smile where she scrunches up her nose so that her eyes are almost closed. Oh my goodness, it's the cutest thing ever! We'll try and capture a photo of that for everyone!

Maddie's also getting more independent and confident in her walking skills. She's still crawling primarily, but all on her own she'll take 5 steps or so. We haven't been getting down and trying to have her walk to us...she'll just decide to let go of the coffee table and walk towards what she sees. She normally ends up getting about half way there and then deciding to crawl, but it's a big step that she's deciding to do it all on her own!

We have her 15 month check-up this coming Tuesday, so I'll be sure to update everyone with her new stats. She has to get a couple more immunizations, so it won't be a fun visit for either of us!

Love you all!
