Growing Oh So Big

Maddie had her 18 week check-up and everything went great! She has grown 2" and is now 24.5" tall! That put her in the 50th percentile for height which is awesome! She gained a little over a pound and is now 12 lbs, 7.8 oz - so just about 12.5 lbs which is the 25th percentile. Her head circumference is still in the 50th percentile too so that little brain of hers is growing right on track! Our munchkin is getting so big!

I asked about some dry spots she has near her elbows and it looks like she has baby eczema. The doctor just said to apply vaseline to it and it should be ok. It doesn't bother Maddie at all, so that's good!

Her new trick this week is lifting her legs up high so she can see her toes and then grabbing her toes and pulling them all the way up to her mouth! It is crazy to see how flexible she is! If this keeps up, she may follow in Auntie Dawn's footsteps and be a great gymnast!

Everything else is going pretty good. She is still fighting off the last bits of her cold and is sneezing and coughing here and there. Even though she isn't bothered by the cold too much, she still isn't sleeping well at night and is waking up often. So we have to be better about letting her cry it out for a little bit before going in to soothe her. Heaven help me with that one - I am awful at doing this! I just hate hearing her cry! I know it's important though for her to learn how to soothe herself to sleep and not rely on us to soothe her. So we'll see how that goes!

Chitter Chatter

Maddie is talking up a storm these days! She loves to talk with us when she's lying on the changing table, sitting with us on the sofa and at the end of her feedings. We were able to record some of her jibber jabber - she had a lot to say during our talk this day! This is just a short snippet of our conversation!

We also heard Maddie laugh for the first time today! It was so incredible!! She was very responsive too - she would laugh when I was done saying something, like she understood what I had just told her. It was awesome! We're going to try and catch this on audio too. Seeing her smile and hearing her laugh are about the two greatest things in the world!

I know we have been remiss on photos too! So to help get us caught up here are a few we took over the last couple weeks. It feels like she has a grown a ton lately - just really filled out and gotten a good bit taller I think. Her next check up is on the 28th, so I'm really curious to see how tall she's gotten and how much she weighs now. She is still our little love bug, but she is getting bigger by the day!

We took these first few photos a week or so ago. I love her red cherry outfit, but she's sadly outgrown it! She is now wearing her 3-6 month clothes!

This photo is a little blurry, but she was having such a great time in her bumbo seat sitting up like a big girl!

We took the rest of these photos yesterday and if I do say so myself, they turned out great! Thank you Daddy for these fantastic shots! Have we mentioned how beautiful she is?!
